I began writing for my WeChat public account on September 13, 2024. So far I have published 68 original posts, totaling well over 100,000 Chinese characters, including quite a few excellent pieces. I gradually began cross-posting to Zhihu, Toutiao, and Baijiahao, receiving some responses on all of them. This makes me very happy.

I had read many books before. The more I read, the stronger the urge to write became. With so much in my head, I wanted to organize and express it. Writing is painful, of course, but finishing always brings an indescribable pleasure.

Writers today are actually much luckier than those of the past. Research is easier, publication can be immediate, feedback is timely, and the barriers are not particularly high. In ancient times, many writers spent their entire lives without receiving any encouragement or praise. Only after their deaths were their works discovered.

So, although my articles do not currently attract many readers, I still consider myself luckier than writers of old. I also believe my articles will help readers and become more popular in the future.

Coastal scene with waves crashing against rocks

Here is my writing plan for 2025. I hope to complete it on schedule.

1 Finish Volume One of Questions and Answers on Capital.

Capital discusses the capitalist mode of production and can help us better understand the fundamental nature of this society. Through this series, I hope to help readers understand Capital fully and thoroughly, creating a “study handbook for Capital” for beginners. Unfortunately, the series takes enormous time and effort and attracts few readers. It may take a long time for anyone to discover its value, so I can only proceed gradually. This year I must at least finish the first volume.

2 Write 20 Book Reports.

Reading a book is simple, but writing about it is not. A book report is the hardest, because it must introduce the book accurately while expressing your own views. You can also write a book review, whose structure is more flexible and can focus on a particular angle, though doing it well still takes effort. The easiest option is writing reflections on your reading, putting down whatever comes to mind. That, too, is better than nothing.

This year's goal is at least 20 book reports, extracting the essence of 20 books so readers can understand their main contents and practical value in as little time as possible.

3 Publish More Than 150 Original Articles on My WeChat Public Account, at Least Three a Week.

I must also keep publishing articles in other areas, including politics, economics, history, and literature. I will try to create new content that nobody online is paying attention to, using new materials, offering new information, and introducing new views, so readers can find something here that differs from what they see elsewhere.

I should work harder at writing from now on and try to earn a reasonable income before June. After all, one has to support oneself.
