In this age of grand theories, all kinds of theories keep emerging. The Big Water Theory and Lean Muscle Theory enjoy considerable acceptance, while other theories have merits of their own. But nobody has yet discussed the "Great Walk Theory," so I will explain it.

The Great Walk Theory encourages everyone to take a daily walk and reach ten thousand steps. I have practiced it for two years. Here is my experience:
- Easy to maintain. Patrol the nearest shopping mall twice a day and eat two meals, and you have basically reached the target, taking only an hour or two altogether. It is not tiring, requires little effort, does not interfere with work, and creates no burden.
- Improves work efficiency. Sitting and working continuously is not actually very efficient. By contrast, a few minutes of walking after a period of work provides an excellent break. Besides relieving fatigue, walking can stimulate thinking and help new ideas emerge. As far as I know, scientists such as Einstein, Yang Chen-Ning, and Wang Hong all enjoy walking. The more advanced the work, the more walking it requires.
- Helps lose weight and fat. A twenty-five-year-old adult man who is 173 cm tall and weighs 75 kg has a basal metabolic rate of 1,710 kilocalories per day. Ten thousand steps cover about seven kilometers, take 105 minutes, and burn 390 kilocalories. With a daily intake of 2,000 kilocalories, that essentially balances energy intake and expenditure; adding any exercise can then produce weight loss.
- Low cost. It costs nothing. The only essential equipment is clothing to cover your body.
- Little risk of sports injury. Running burdens the knees, swimming may cause outer-ear infections, and prolonged badminton may leave one arm larger than the other. Walking, however, causes no bodily harm.
- Good for mental health. In this noisy era, walking can ease anxiety. When weighed down with worries, clearing your mind during a walk can have a meditation-like effect and greatly benefit mental health. You can also look at beautiful women while walking.
- Maintains good relationships. You can walk and chat with friends to strengthen your bond. Walking alone, you can call friends by voice or video, exercising and socializing at once—two birds with one stone.
- Increases social interaction. The WeChat Sports feature lets you compete and interact with friends. If you take first place one day, you can remind everyone of your existence. Vanity can further promote mental health.
- Compatible with other grand theories. After training for lean muscles, take your big bottle of water for a walk, direct Codex to work on your phone, and listen to English through your earphones. This conflicts with none of the existing Lean Muscle Theory, Big Water Theory, GPT Theory, or Big Language Theory; they are perfectly compatible.
In conclusion, the Great Walk Theory has many advantages and is worth practicing. I hope the concept will flourish and spread.
